He holds a degree in Mathematics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1973), a master's degree in Mathematics from the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (1974) and a PhD in Mathematics from the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (1977). He is currently Senior Researcher III at the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics. He has experience in the area of Mathematics, with an emphasis on Geometry and Topology.
