About Event

The exhibition Reshaping History: A Future for our Past, unprecedented in Brazil, was held between September 2 and October 31, at the Cultural Center of Fundação Getulio Vargas. The exhibition illustrated recent scientific and technological innovations in 3D for the sector of preservation of cultural heritage, demonstrating the use of this technology in different contexts, such as modeling of artifacts, archaeological sites and monuments. Sponsored and organized by the institution's School of Applied Mathematics (FGV / EMAp), the exhibition was part of the commemorative calendar of FGV's 70th anniversary. The proposal was to emphasize the value of the application of 3D technology as an alternative for the conservation and reconstruction of tangible objects, highlighting how the increasing use of this technology has been helping in the documentation and preservation of cultural collections and historical heritage. Result of a four-year project conducted by a consortium of 19 European entities, the show has already visited several countries, including England, Italy and Germany, and is part of the initiative of the VCC-3D competence center - Virtual Competence Center for 3D in cultural heritage - promoting advances in the state of the art in digitization and documentation of 3D collections.
