About Event
Understanding turbulence is one of the most important and challenging open problems in contemporary physics, with deep impact in various areas of application, from biology to engineering to meteorology and oceanography. From a mathematical point of view one of the aspects of turbulent flows which has been a focus of intense research is the exchange of energy between different scales of motion.
In this talk I will explore the energy budget for turbulent flows and then I will discuss some recent results on energy balance for non-smooth, near turbulent, ideal fluid flows in two dimensions, with and without external forcing.
